Personal Statement

I am motivated to pursue a career in pharmacy to help address addiction issues as I have seen them in my community. I believe pharmacists can play a vital role in education, prevention, and supporting those affected by substance misuse.

 

My goal is to earn a PharmD and an MBA to develop both clinical expertise and leadership skills.

 

Ultimately, I aspire to open a rehabilitation center that provides comprehensive care and promotes healthier communities. I am committed to making a positive impact and contributing to community health through my future career.

 Community Service

Organization: LSU Engaged Citizen Program & Local Food Banks (Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, LSU Food Pantry, Arkansas Food Bank)

​I am honored to be a candidate for the LSU Engaged Citizen Medal, which recognizes students who demonstrate outstanding commitment to community service, leadership, and civic engagement. This nomination reflects my dedication to supporting underserved populations, developing essential community health skills, and embodying the values of service, responsibility, and leadership. I am committed to continuing my efforts to make a positive impact in my community and beyond.

Role & Responsibilities:  

  • Contributed over 100 hours supporting underserved communities through food distribution and assistance programs.

  • Organized inventory, assembled food packages, and interacted directly with individuals and families facing food insecurity.

  • Developed communication skills essential for community health, including clear, empathetic dialogue and cultural sensitivity.

  • Maintained professionalism and organization in busy, resource-limited environments, demonstrating reliability and accountability.

Application to Pharmacy & Future Goals

  • Strengthened community health skills such as active listening, cultural sensitivity, and teamwork.

  • Learned the importance of compassion, patience, and respect in serving diverse populations, core qualities for patient-centered care.

  • Built leadership skills through ongoing community involvement, reinforcing a commitment to service and advocacy.

These experiences taught me to view each individual as more than a case or prescription, emphasizing empathy and personalized care.
I am committed to continuing community service initiatives that improve health access, aligning with my goal of becoming an empathetic, patient-focused pharmacist.
My involvement has prepared me to work collaboratively within healthcare teams, advocate for patients, and serve diverse populations effectively.

Educational Pursuits and Recognitions

I am currently attending Louisiana State University (LSU), where I am a proud member of the Roger Hadfield Ogden Honors College, with an anticipated graduation date of August 14, 2026. I have maintained a place on the Dean's List consistently, reflecting my dedication to academic excellence. Additionally, I am a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS), which has supported my growth as a leader and a committed student.
